After nearly two years in production, I was finally able to see the almost-final cut of The Nuke Brothers.

Now sporting a rather nifty subtitle (The Adventures of Fat Man and Little Boy), this is a post-apocalyptic science fiction comedy about the misadventures of two idiots roaming the desolate wastes of post-nuke America, Duke and Zeph. Intended as a pilot for a would-be television series, this really nifty film is well....actually, really good!

The main action centers around our two heroes as they deal with daily life, which includes scrounging for food, outwitting a weird something called a "rogue" and avoiding some sort of deadly, glowing zombie called a "half-life." It is good stuff, stuff that any child of the 1980s probably misses (whether they know it or not).

There is also a good subplot regarding some moon colonists that our fallout-stricken characters seem to regard as "gods." It is, however, pretty obvious that these moon dudes are really just....bored of the fucking moon.

This movie was shot on mini DV, but it's done with such skill that that's a non-issue. While this surely must've been a low-budget production, it never feels like it.

Word is that this will be making the rounds of various film festivals in the coming year, so if you hear mention of it, do try to check it out. A DVD of the film is already up for order. More information can be found here.
